About seven animal quarantine checkpoints have been set up in Cagayan de Oro City’s entry points to bar the delivery of pork products from areas hit by the African Swine Flu (ASF) virus.

City Veterinarian Lucien Anthony Acac said this during Monday morning’s flag-raising and program held at the City Hall quadrangle that was hosted by the City Finance Office.

Dr. Acac called on city residents for cooperation and vigilance in monitoring and reporting the presence and delivery of pork products that have not been vetted by their animal quarantine checkpoints to City Hall’s Anti-ASF Task Force.

Aca said they stepped up their monitoring after receiving information from Davao City Hall’s agriculture committee that three of the city’s barangays were hit by the ASF.

The animal quarantine checkpoints were set up at the entry points of neighboring provinces like Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental, Acac said. (Stephen Capillas of CIO)
