Gingoog City — Mayor Erick G. Cañosa and Vice Mayor Peter M. Unabia both agreed to schedule a special meeting in the soonest time possible to discuss the matter regarding the order of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) banning motorelas, sidecars and trisikad on national highways.

The two top city officials said they will call a special meeting to know and what to do on the banning of the said vehicles which would affect many commuters.

In a brief situationer presented by Col. Ariel Philip I. Pontillas, Gingoog City Police Director, many have been complaining after he conducted a dry-run implementation of the order.

But after a series of dialogues and the showing of the DILG order the drivers, he said, understood.

Pontillas said in his report that there are some barangays in the city that has no other access road except the highway and only motorelas are the only source of public transportation.

In Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental, the Bachelor Express Incorporated based in Butuan City extends its services by providing a route to serve the people of this town after the DILG ordered the implementation of the ban.

However, according to source the bus company, they utilized only two units every day which have been using an old road entering the poblacion area of the town via Vinapor in Carmen town of Agusan del Norte from Butuan to Cagayan de Oro and vice versa

Magsaysay Mayor Rey Buhisan said the banning of the motorelas also affect their temporary livelihood

But Buhisan said he discourages the drivers and operators not to buy or operate motorelas or sidecars units anymore.

Mayor Aaron Unabia said he will conduct a meeting within this week with all motorela drivers and operators in Balingoan before he will implement the order.
