The dialogue, organized by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), was meant to provide a venue in exploring means to discuss issues affecting the different tribal communities in the country.

Redemptorist Brother Carlito “Karl” Gaspar said the dialogue was aimed at bridging the gap between tribal communities and religious leaders.

One of the Higaonon leaders, a certain “Datu Logdagan” of San Luis town, said he hoped the dialogue would result in a better understanding of issues and concerns affecting indigenes.

The problems, he said, were centuries-old issues that revolve around tribal lands, culture and traditions.
