Dr.Jerie Calingasan, head of the provincial task force on Covid-19, today confirmed the two new Covid-19 cases in Gingoog, one of the province’s two component cities.

The first to test positive for Covid-19 is a 34-year-old woman who returned after being stranded in Manila.

Dr. Calingasan told local radio said the woman is the mother of the baby who earlier tested positive for the virus in Gingoog. Her husband also tested positive earlier.

Calingasan said the woman, asymptomatic, is in an isolation facility in Gingoog.

Misamis Oriental’s 11th documented Covid-19 patient is a 40-year-old man who came home after working in Saudi Arabia. It is Gingoog’s 5th recorded Covid-19 case.

Calingasan said the man returned to the country on May 23 where he stayed for a month. He tested negative for Covid-19 in Manila and returned to Gingoog on June 23.

Officials said the man was swabbed again on June 24 and the result, released yesterday showed that he caught the virus.

Like the 34-year-old woman, he is asymptomatic and is on quarantine.
