The 104 new infections, a record-setting single-day high, brought the region’s cumulative total to 3,235 and erased the 90 new cases which the Department of Health in Region 10 tallied on Sept. 21.

As shown in a DOH 10 Covid-19 briefer, the disease claimed five lives yesterday, two each from Bukidnon and Iligan, and one from Lanao del Norte, pushing the death toll to 89 in the region.

Of the 104 new infections, 54 of those who tested positive are Cagayan de Oro residents, also the city’s most number of infections in a day, thus far.

The other 50 are in Misamis Oriental (19), Bukidnon (17), Iligan (7), Misamis Occidental (6), and Lanao del Norte (1).

Ninety-eight of the new confirmed cases were classified as “local cases” while the other six are either “returning overseas Filipinos” or “locally stranded individuals.”

With these, the region has 1,255 “active cases,” 135 are admitted in medical centers while 1,210 are in community isolated units and temporary treatment and monitoring facilities.

Among provinces, Bukidnon has the most number of “active cases” with 253 while, among cities, Cagayan de Oro has 412.

The DOH-10 briefer also included 1,801 who had been cleared from infections or 55.67% recovery rate region-wide. Iligan has the highest recovery rate among local governments with 73% or 148 out of its 728 confirmed.

As of 5 pm yesterday, here’s the DOH-10’s tally of confirmed cases (active, recovered and deaths): Bukidnon (428), Camiguin (20), Lanao del Norte (421), Misamis Occidental (256), Misamis Oriental (445), Cagayan de Oro (937), and Iligan (728).
