Despite being told to wait for the text message instructions to be sent before their scheduled 2nd vaccination, many still showed up, some believing that they may have failed to receive the message and just went ahead in complying with the date indicated in their vaccination cards.

Dapat ang text message dili lang sa pag inform kanus-a ang amo schedule, kung di mo inform pud unta na di madayon,” one of those scheduled for the 2nd vaccination said.

The reason for the postponed vaccination was that there were no shipments of the Gamalea Sputnik V and Sinovac that arrived. No explanation was given why the vaccines failed to arrive on that day.

No date was provided when the vaccines would be available. The vaccinees were told to just wait for the text message that will inform them of their new schedule.

The vaccines available were AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson which were part of the 3.2 million vials donated by the United States government.

Over the weekend, more than 3.2 million U.S.-donated Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccines arrived in the Philippines, delivered via Covax.

According to the US Embassy, the Philippines has previously received more than seven million vaccine doses through Covax. The U.S. is the largest monetary contributor, having already donated over P100 billion ($2 billion).
