TROOPS of the Army’s 52nd Engineering Brigade and the 544th Engineer Construction Battalion (544th ECB) are set to be completed the ground works of another local government unit (LGU)-funded 55-meters road concreting project at Brgy. Tubo-Tubo, in Surigao del Sur.

Army’s 544 ECB commander Lieutenant Colonel Edwin Nogal said the project was funded by the barangay and the local government unit of Cagwait.

“Amidst COVID-19 pandemic, the 544ECB remains committed to serve the people with selfless services, in partnership with the local government Unit of Cagwait,” said Nogal.

Nogal said that through engineer capability (ENCAP) projects, the project is set to be completed before Christmas, this year.
He said the road project started on September 22, 2021.

In a statement, the 544 ECB deployed 1 team of Engineer Equipment Maintenance Company composed of a prime mover, a unit of 5-bagger mixer, 3 units of 15-cubic dump trucks, road roller, backhoe loader, and a grader to implement the Tubo-Tubo Road Concrete Project.

“This project will benefit more or less 1,500 residents of the community especially the Camayo tribe residing in Brgy Tubo-Tubo,” according to Nogal.

Nogal said the town of Cagwait was identified as a geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas and has been a focus area for development.

He said the road concreting project in Tubo-Tubo is part of the ENCAP (Engineer Capability) Support of 544th Engineer Construction Battalion ECB as a manifestation of its commitment to uphold Executive Order No. 70 – The Whole of the Nation Approach to End Local Communist Armed Conflict – in its area of coverage.
