Roland Sherwin ‘Tawi’ Velez Uy, 45, and a barangay Kagawad of Carmen died instantly as well as his backhoe caretaker Samuel Tabalan, 73 of Zayas, Upper Carmen when two unidentified men in motorcycle treacherously attacked them.

Tawi Uy’s personal driver Rubie Nahial Alayuay reportedly escaped death when he went inside the comfort room during the incident.

Alayuay told responding policemen led by Police Major Jerson Boja Estanilla that once inside the toilet, he heard Tawi’s visitors pretending to be sand and gravel buyers in a brief conversation.

There followed multiple gun bursts that prompted him to stay inside for fear of his own life. Later, he noticed a motorcycle leaving the area.

Tawi’s lifeless body was found inside the shack sprawled on a recliner seat, while Pabalan lay on a mound of sand gravel near a white pick-up shirtless and with face covered by a black cloth.

Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar S. Moreno, who came to check the area, immediately ordered the police to conduct an investigation and an around-the-clock operation to arrest the perpetrators.
