CAGAYAN de Oro City Councilor George Goking on Thursday said 10,000 bags of relief goods has turned over to typhoon-hit Negros Occidental from Chinese government.

Goking said the Chinese government earlier pledged to the country a donation of relief bags including rice, instant noodles, and canned goods were distributed to the survivors.

He said Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian formally turned over the said bags of relief goods to Bacolod Mayor Bing Leonardia.

Mayor Leonardia personally attended the turnover of 10,000 bags of relief goods distributed by the local chapters of the Filipino-Chinese organizations, according to Goking.

He said the donations came as the Philippines launched relief efforts in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette that battered the country.

After the typhoon Odette devastated a vast area of the Visayas region, the Chinese Embassy along with the Filipino Chinese Community has made relentless efforts to deliver relief operations to the survivors, said Goking.

In a statement, other areas that were also in dire need of drinking water also received much needed supplies, according to Goking.

“With a hopeful heart, I wish for the speedy recovery of these affected regions and may the resilience of Filipinos arise once again. May we all emerge stronger after these trials,” said Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian in a statement. (Ben Balce)
