Police said they first caught Barros the following day the crime happened.

During an initial investigation, the suspect denied his participation in the crime saying, that when the supposed incident occurred, he was with some friends on a drinking spree. He said he could even present a witness.

But when he was shown to the victim he was positively identified by the latter as among the suspects.

Meanwhile, Peligrino was also arrested yesterday at 4:30 pm by police station 3 Intelligence operatives led by Police Master Sgt. Luisito Ugat, Jr.

The said suspect also denied the crime. But when policemen requested him to wear a black mask and a black ball cap and presented him to the victim, the latter suddenly cried.

She told investigators that she was able to detect the suspect’s voice and body postures as the one who sexually abused her.

It can be recalled that on June 17 a certain Chris Sumaña, 24 of Western Kulambog, Barangay Lapasan, was killed by three attackers while having a date with his girlfriend along the coastal road of the said barangay.

The suspects then sexually abused the suspect’s companion who is still a minor.

Police Capt. Ernesto Sanchez, PS3 chief said, his men will continue to conduct a follow-up operation for the third remaining suspect.

The suspects will be facing robbery with homicide and rape charges in court.
