IN launching his barangay food aid program in Barangay Camaman-an today, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy called on barangay officials to embody ‘the spirit of public service’ and serve their constituents to the best of their abilities.

“During the Covid-19 pandemic, my staff worked tirelessly in delivering food packs to Camaman-an residents. My wife (Barangay Carmen chairperson Lorna Uy) and I contracted Covid-19 but that didn’t stop us from serving our constituents in the first district and even extending our service to the second district,” Mayor Uy said in Visayan to Camaman-an barangay officials.

In his message, Barangay Camaman-an chairman Pedro Arda thanked Uy for his sustained support to the barangay even during the mayor’s tenure as congressman of the city’s first district.

Arda acknowledged Uy’s support during the pandemic when his staff distributed food packs to families affected by localized containment enforced in their area.

Arda also asked Uy that the barangay distribute house-to-house the 500 food packs that City Hall allocated for their indigent families.

“We have 400 civilian volunteers that can distribute the 500 food packs house to house. We have 17 sitios and it would be difficult for us to distribute all food packs (here in our barangay hall),” Arda told Mayor Uy who readily agreed to his request.

Mayor Uy attended Tuesday morning’s flag-raising program in Barangay Camaman-an as part of his pledge to distribute 500 food packs to indigent families in every barangay he visits for the week.

Uy will also attend the ‘Klarex Nga Serbisyo Sa Baryo’ program to be held in Barangay Balubal this coming.

“This is not the end of our service to you. We will schedule a ‘Klarex Nga Serbisyo Sa Baryo’ program here at a scheduled date. Our next ‘Klarex Serbisyo sa Baryo will be in Balulang and our program will serve our city residents in the city’s two districts. I ask all of you to be patient,” Uy said.
