A 23-year-old food rider was killed after his parked motorcycle was run over by a wayward ambulance along CM Recto, Gusa highway in Cagayan de Oro City, Tuesday at 3 pm.

The victim was identified as Frelan Ello, a resident of Kinawe, Libona, Bukidnon. He was connected at Maxim food delivery.

In a police report, it was revealed that the incident occurred while Ello’s motorcycle, a Yamaha sniper with plate number MV 1001-200887 was parked along the sidewalk of the said place.

Police said the victim was resting in the said area when suddenly an ambulance owned by a Local Government Unit of Municipality of Balingasag, Misamis Oriental rammed at the victim’s parked motorcycle.

It was revealed that the said ambulance was ferrying a shooting victim from the said town to be treated in Cagayan de Oro city.

According to the ambulance driver to the police investigator, he was traversing the said road going west side when a passenger jeepney suddenly turned to the left side towards the old road.

He said he tried to avoid hitting the jeepney by swerving the vehicle’s steering wheel to the right.

“Ako na hinoong nabangaan ang nag parking nga motorsiklo ug gilawos pa gyud ko sa usa ka balay,” the driver said.

The house owned by Belone Carson incurred damage due to the impact.

While Ello sustained bruises and contusions in his body. He was rushed to Capitol University Medical Center where he was later declared dead by attending physicians.

Ello is survived by his wife and a five-year-old baby.

The ambulance driver is currently detained and will be facing reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
