CAGAYAN de Oro 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez asked the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to allocate at least P100 million for the construction of farm-to-market roads (FMRs) in the second legislative district of the city.

The proposal is aimed at supporting the 557 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARB) across the different barangays in the said district to easily transport their products to the market and consumers.

Before the scheduled hearing in Congress for the 2023 budget of DAR, Rodriguez submitted a letter to Sec. Estralla requested for funding proposed FMRs in 5 barangays Indahag, Puerto, Bugo, Balubal, and Gusa at P20 million each which was endorsed by DAR-10 Regional Director Zoraida Macadindang:

This amounts to a total of P100 million, to be added to the already approved 2023 proposed FMR budget under the Department of Agriculture (DA), which compose of the following:

(Validated) Brgy. Tablon – P15 million, Brgy. Cugman – P15 million and Brgy. Bugo – P15 million.

While “for validation” are Brgy. Cugman – P23,736,000 and Brgy. Bugo – P15 million.

Sec. Estrella committed to consider the request Rodriguez for the development of more FMRs.

Since Sec. Estrella is Rep. Rufus’ former colleague in the past Congresses, the P15.85 billion budget proposal for DAR in 2023 was approved without any interpellation.

Rodriguez thanks Sec. Estrella and Director Macadindang for their constant support and assistance for the ARBs of his district.
