PUBLIC works committee chairman city Councilor John Michael Seno urged the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to include its contractors to expedite the completion of their flood control projects in the city.

Accordingly, Seno said that the completion of the project will mitigate flooding in the city and help solve the problem of the lack of roads in their implementation of the flood risk management projects.

“They should expedite the construction of projects that somehow help the city to solve the lack of roads,” said Seno.

Earlier, Seno called for the DPWH, UPMO (unified project management office), and Quingdao Municipal Construction Group Co. to help solve the problem of lack of roads in the implementation of their flood risk management project in Barangay Carmen.

“The project has been going on for a long time but has not yet been completed and has caused danger, especially in this rainy season,” Seno said.

Seno who is also the City Council’s Committee on Sports and Youth Development chairman asked them to finish the construction of the flood control projects by December this year.

Meanwhile, on their part, the UPMO, who is tasked to manage the project especially to take care of those affected by the project said that the owners have not been paid due to the lack of requirements.

The lot owners have submitted the requirements but they have never been paid, according to Seno.

However, Seno said that some lot owners revealed that they are very much in favor of the project because it will help protect the area from floods.

“The project is very important, especially for the safety of the people in the area, which is why we asked everyone involved in the project to work together to solve the problem so that it can be resolved as soon as possible,” said Seno.
