AUTHORITIES seized a total of 887 cartons or 17.7 cases worth P280 thousand in allegedly smuggled cigarettes in an operation in Cogon Public market Wednesday morning.

According to a report by Cagayan de Oro Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) CFU CDO-10 operatives, together with CIU CDO, PS2 Cogon, COCPO, John Paul S Balbon, and a representative from the City Health Office in Cagayan de Oro City raided personalities engaged in the selling tobacco products without the labels and packages.

Authorities even lead to the arrest of a certain Bernard Maputi Pacho, 33, a resident of Barangay Balubal for violation of RA 10643 (Graphic Health Warning), RA 8293 (Intellectual Property Code), and Consumers Act of the Philippines (RA 7394).

Confiscated items are as follows: 34 reams of Red Commando; Red Nelson (26 reams); Red Seven King (21 reams); Red Establish (23 reams); White Commando (43); Red Champion (12); Green Champion (19) and Black Champion (27).

Also another 46 reams of Black Establish; 6 reams of Red Hero; 10 reams of Black Modern; 21 reams of Green Hill; 45 reams of Black San Marino; 17 reams of Black Marbles; 30 reams of Black New Orleans; 64 reams of White Astro; 13 reams Red Dreamon; 13 reams Black Dreamon; 26 reams Black 2M; 16 reams White San Marino.

One hundred fifty-five (155) reams of White Gift; 1 case of Red San Marino containing 50 reams; 1 case of Green Cannon with 50 reams; 1 case of Red Establish containing 50 reams; 1 case of Red Commando with 50 reams; and 1 carton containing 20 assorted reams.

Maputi along with the confiscated items were brought to the CIDG CDO CFU Office for documentation, proper disposition, and filing of cases against him.
