To celebrate the feast of the most holy body and blood of Christ, Cagayan de Oro Archbishop Most Rev. Jose Cabantan will preside over a holy Mass at 6 p.m. on June 10, followed by a procession.

The procession will begin at the Santuario Eucaristico-Sacred Heart Parish on RN Pelaez Boulevard, carrying the Blessed Sacrament with the monstrance.

The route will pass through the Maharlika Bridge, Don Apolinar Velez St., Fernandez St., and will end at the Saint Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral church for the holy hour and benediction.

In addition, Sanctuario Eucatistico Sacred Heart parish priest Rev. Fr. Wilbert Laroga said that they plan to hold a fireworks display at the Maharlika Bridge to dispel evil spirits, following several suicide incidents in the area.

Fr. Laroga emphasized the significance of the Blessed Sacrament in a person’s life and the promotion of the “Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament,” located in the city center, through the upcoming procession.

He highlighted that they are not just promoting anyone but the Lord himself.

After a lapse of seven years, the procession is a reminder of the religiousness of the Kagay-anons.

Meanwhile, Parish treasurer Rev. Fr. Jessie Argoncillo called on individuals in the areas where the procession will pass to offer prayers and show respect.

To guarantee the smooth flow of the procession, the parish has collaborated with Oro Rescue from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department, along with the Roads and Traffic Administration.

The government offices have completed their coordination to ensure peace and order during the event. Rev. Fr. Exzur Eballe, the assistant parish priest, reminded devotees and churchgoers to follow the minimum public health standards in light of the continued threat of Covid-19.
