DIGOS City ― A 49-year-old man died on the spot after the crowbar he tied at the back of the motorcycle he was driving hit the sidecar of a tricycle in Barangay Buri, Matanao town in Davao del Sur.

Major Flor Daisy Angga, Matanao acting police chief identified the fatality as Jake Ambat Salinas, 42, driver, a resident of Barangay Dongan Pekong in Matanao.

The police traffic investigator reported that at about 7:30 pm on July 6, Salinas was driving a black TMX motorcycle when the crowbar tied at the back hit the body of the tricycle, driven by Jesus Cuizon, at the opposite lane causing the motorcycle to swerve and fell to the concrete road.

Salinas who was not wearing a crash helmet was also thrown away and landed on the pavement head-first which resulted in his untimely death, the police report said.

Major Angga urged motorcycle drivers to wear crash helmets every time they travel as a precaution that could save lives.
