CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Philippine Statistics Authority Region X and the City Civil Registry, aiming to strengthen the commitment to the residents particularly in far-flung barangays.

This agreement establishes the Batch Request Query System (BREQS) project, which aims to simplify the process of obtaining civil registration papers.

City Mayor’s Office chief of staff Shiela Lumbatan said the main goal of this project is to make requesting civil register documents from the City Civil Register Office, located in the city hall, a more streamlined procedure.

The MOA signing involved Mayor Uy, Janith C. Aves from PSA Region X, and Evangeline C. Tapangan from the City Civil Registrar.

“This means that not only city residents but also individuals from nearby barangays and even those outside the city will benefit from this new system,” said Lumbatan.

She said that with the implementation of the Batch Request Query System, people will no longer have to go through lengthy and complicated processes to obtain important civil register papers.

“This will greatly improve efficiency and save time for both citizens and the city administration,” said Lumbatan.

The BREQS project is expected to enhance accessibility and convenience for the public. People living in remote barangays and those outside the city will no longer need to travel long distances to the city hall for their requests.

“Instead, they can use this new system to submit their requests electronically, eliminating the need to be physically present,” Lumbatan stressed.

Moreover, the Memorandum of Agreement represents a strong collaboration between the local government, the Philippine Statistics Authority, and the City Civil Registry.

It demonstrates their commitment to modernizing public services and utilizing technology to provide better service to the citizens.

Mayor Uy expressed his appreciation to the PSA for bringing this innovative solution to Cagayan de Oro.

He strongly believes that precise data is crucial for making informed policies and implementing effective interventions.

“Kini nga proyekto maapil dili lamang ang mga molupyo sa dakbayan kondili usab ang mga individual gikan sa mga barangay ug lahi pa,” said Uy, adding that by leveraging technology, the request procedure will become more efficient, accessible, and convenient for everyone involved.

The MOA signing represents a significant milestone in improving administrative processes and community services in Cagayan de Oro under Uy’s unwavering commitment to serving the residents.

The partnership between the LGU and the PSA sets a benchmark for other municipalities, inspiring them to provide efficient and accessible services to their constituents.
