CAMP VICENTE ALAGAR will be strengthening its intelligence monitoring activity in the region against any group or individual that commits crimes against election-related violations, particularly vote buying, Police Major Joann Navarro, Police Regional Office-10 spokesperson, said in a phone interview.

She said the monitoring activity against such violations concerning vote buying will be strictly enforced.

Navarro said the whole region focusing on monitoring activity in support of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) campaign dubbed ‘Kontra Bigay.’ The Comelec created the committee specifically to go against vote buying and vote selling.

And with that purpose, the PNP-10 has empowered the force multipliers in every area of ​​the region to help the intelligence monitoring activities, Navarro said.

She added that they have been training force multiplier for this purpose.

In the city, Cocpo has a similar situation and they also asserted their intelligence monitoring activity as revealed by Police Lt. Col. Evan Viñas, spokesman of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, during Meet the Press on Wednesday morning at SM CDO Downtown.

Viñas said the Cocpo also strengthened their monitoring network in coordination with the City Comelec.

Navarro said all lower units in the region are directed to strictly monitor any election-related violence and offenses like vote buying through intensified intelligence monitoring.

All field commanders, and chiefs of police are already equipped with knowledge and skills on what to do if there are cases of vote buying in their areas of responsibility, Navarro said.

“A series of conferences and lectures with the Comelec already took place, to refresh, review, and update our police with the new poll body resolutions,” she added.
