The DILG employs various criteria for evaluation. Among them are the meetings conducted by the city or local government units, and the documentation of Peace and Order Council proceedings, including minutes of such meetings. These performance ratings are conducted annually.

Across the country, there are approximately 1,017 Peace and Order Councils that require annual ratings for peace and order concerns, with respective local governments expected to submit reports periodically on this matter.
