AN outgoing Barangay chair of one of the rural barangays in Cagayan de Oro City died when his driven vehicle accidentally crashed into a concrete fence and fell to a lower portion of the road.

The incident took place at Purok 2, Barangay Larapan, Linamon, Lanao del Norte at 9:30, this morning.

Police identified the victim as Billy ‘Kid’ Auza of Barangay Tablon. He is an outgoing Barangay captain of the said barangay.

Also hospitalized was Auza’s 14-year-old nephew identified as Adriana Roopesh Krishna Auza of the same address. She only sustained minor injuries.

The said barangay chief is celebrating his birthday today and was scheduled to marry a fiancee’ soon.

Police Master Sgt. Donald Montecillo, Asst. the investigator assigned at Linamon, Lanao del Norte Municipal Police Station, said, the victim was heeding for Ozamis City from Cagayan de Oro when the incident happened.

Police said the victim’s vehicle, a Toyota Hi-Lux with plate number LAH-1984 tumbled down upon reaching the ground.

Police theorized that Auza might have fallen asleep while maneuvering his vehicle.

A rescue team from the said municipality rushed the victim to the Mercy Community Hospital in Iligan City only to be declared dead upon arrival by Dr. Khaira Mamaroba.

Auza sought re-election last October 30 Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan election but lost.
