ATTORNEY Monching Tabor messaged me that even before I wrote about it a few days back, the RTA had already discussed the matter of apprehending drivers of motor vehicles with loud exhaust pipes. His message says in part: this was discussed in the RTA Mancom meeting, and we will include this in the campaign against the illegal operation of baobao. The assistance of barangay officials will be earnestly sought.

I agree with my law school classmate. The RTA will need everybody’s help in curbing violations of traffic rules and regulations. Barangay officials, especially the punong barangays, are mandated by the Local Government Code to assist the City Mayor enforce laws and ordinances and other legal issuances. They need not be reminded of this responsibility as public officials.

Some, if not most, people are used to a stretched implementation of regulations. Conversely, this should necessarily result in a tighter enforcement of regulations. As I used to say while I was the Chair of TF Hapsay Dalan from 2013 to 2017, sayang ang sakyanan nga patsada kay walay buot ang drayber.

Somebody sent me a note suggesting that operations against drivers who use motor vehicles with glaring headlights or other lamps should also be included.

Yes, I agree. There are motor vehicles on which overly bright lamps are installed or which are operated with glaring bright lights. It seems some drivers do not care about, or are ignorant of, safety on the road and turns on overly-bright and blinding lights even in poblacion thoroughfares or on highways despite oncoming traffic.

I’m sure this is also already on the radar of Monching and Nits Oclarit.

Keep it up, guys! Undangon nato nang saba ug sulaw.
