ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat– An active environment officer in protecting the remaining forest in this province against illegal loggers is now receiving life threats believed coming from illegal loggers operating in the province.
Cenro Jerry Dalauta said in an interview last July 28, 2015 said that he is receiving life threatening messages which he believed came from groups of people engage into illegal logging in the area as he is strongly monitoring the illegal cutting and transportation of trees in the area.
Although, Dalauta did not mentioned names but still he believed that behind those life threats he received came from people whom their request for his help were being turned down.
He even cited that there was an instance that a local town executive came to his office and asked for favour but said he refused to extend help especially if it deals on illegal cutting and transport of trees.
The latest accomplishment of Cenro Dalauta was the apprehension, impoundment of a truck loaded with 960.30 board feet of illegally cut natural grown species where he turned over them to the PNP headquarters in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.
He also filed appropriate charges against three individuals involved before the provincial prosecutor’s.
Charged as prescribed and under Sections 68 and 69 of Presidential Decree 75 and a lot accordingly had been on trial during his administration concerning the same issue.
In relation to this issue, PNP-Sultan Kudarat under Police Senior Superintendent Danny L. Reyes has said that they are conducting investigation on the matter and assured that security was being readied at any given request from Dalauta’s office.
