Lactao directed 403rd Brigade commander Col. Jessie Alvarez to deploy more soldiers to carry out patrol operations in strategic areas in Gingoog and other areas in eastern Misamis Oriental.

The general gave out the order during the joint meeting of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) and the Gingoog City Peace and Order Council on Wednesday afternoon.

The order came after the two councils approved a joint resolution to appeal to President Aquino through the Armed Forces and the National Police to field augmentation forces to the outlying villages of Gingoog because of the threat of insurgency, and in view of the July 11 attack staged by the New People’s Army (NPA) in Barangay Alagatan.
