CAGAYAN de Oro Rep. Rolando Uy of the city’s 1st District over the weekend hinted of a possible retirement from politics next year, citing his “lack of resources” for another political campaign in the city.

Uy said this even as he frowned over ex-mayor Vicente Emano’s announcement that he would run for the city’s top post again, saying it was time for the former leader of the city to seriously consider retirement.

“Ato nang kaloy-an si Dongkoy (Emano) kay edaran na. Kaloy-an nato nga dili na nato botaran kay looy ang edaran kung magserbisyo pa,” Uy said.

The congressman said this even as he hinted that he was considering retirement next year over what he claimed was his “lack of resources.”

Uy said he would also not run for mayor contrary to pronouncements made by councilors Ramon Tabor and Alexander Dacer of the Padayon Pilipino that he and Rep. Rufus Rodriguez of the city’s 2nd District were planning on joining the mayoral race next year.

Uy said he was unaware of Rodriguez’s plans next year because they have not talked yet. But as far as he is concerned, Uy said, “Dili na ako magpapili kay wala koy resources… Anaa man ang posibilidad pero resources wala. Ato na lang suportahan ang kasamtangang administrasyon aron mapadayon ang mga programa.”

He said he and his family have yet to discuss if they would field another member of the family in next year’s elections but still, “wala kami resources sa pagkakaron.”
