PHILIPPINE Drug Enforce-ment Agency (PDEA-10) operatives and police officers arrested eight men allegedly involved in illegal drugs on Acacia St., Barangay Carmen, this city, yesterday morning.
Authorities identified the suspects as Nassif Dagohoy Batara, 29, Januar Labitad, 38, Rio Castil, 38, Alex Aclo, 40, Patrick Navarrete, 34, Aileen Labitad, Feliciano Brage Jr., and Gerald Mayuni.
PDEA regional director Wilkins Villanueva said the suspects were arrested at around 5 am after they searched houses on court orders.
PDEA agents seized some 55 grams of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The PDEA said it has a market value of P82,500.
Also seized was 100 grams of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. PDEA information officer Rosemarie Autor said there was no resistance or commotion although Labitad tried to escape but operatives chased him and was caught after several minutes.
“Kato lang pagukod kang Labitad kay pirmi na niya gabuhaton,” she said. Autor said Labitad has long been a “target” of PDEA but always managed to escape. The seized evidence would undergo qualitative and quantitative examination in a laboratory while PDEA prepares the charges against the suspects for the violation of RA 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act.
The operation was a joint undertaking of PDEA and the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office.
