Although most government agencies have improved their services since the implementation of RA 9485 in 2007 because they have done away with “fixers,” the CSC official added.

This was disclosed by CSC 10 Assistant Regional Director Noemi Rabe-Torres in a press conference, here Wednesday. The evaluation of government agencies in their implementation of RA 9485 is one of the many activities in line with its 115th anniversary this month.

Rabe-Torres said the strict implementation of RA 9485 is instrumental in curbing graft and corruption in government agencies.

For her part, Philippine Statistics Agency Chief Virge Gayla admitted that her agency flunked CSC’s evaluation in the implementation of RA 9485.

Gayla, however, said that they have improved their services to their clients because they have put in place measures that will ensure a faster proccessing of authenticating birth certificates and claimed they have “zero fixers” in their offices.

With the theme: “Kayang kaya mo, lingkod bayan,” CSC has lined up events and special treats this upcoming month-long celebration designed to encourage and inspire servant-heroes nationwide.

The Philippine Civil Service was created through Public Law No. 5, “An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of Our Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands,” which was enacted on September 19, 1900.
