Engr. Ronnie Vicente Lagnada, a contractor, made the announcement during a gathering of his supporters and barangay officials.

Rep. Lawrence Fortun also declared his reelection bid. He said his ticket would be under the administration Liberal Party (LP).

Former Butuan congressman Jose Aquino II would be Lagnada’s running mate, according to barangay chairman Tito Bebis.

Former Butuan mayor Daisy Plaza and her sons, including former councilor Randolph Plaza, and stepson Councilor Derrick Plaza were present during Lagnada’s declaration.

The announcement came shortly after Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr. declared his reelection bid. Like Fortun, Amante claims his ticket is also under the LP.

During the political gathering, Lagnada vehemently denied allegations made by Amante and two councilors that he “bullied” them, and threatened that if the mayor sought reelection, he would be exposed and sued.
