THE political rivalry between Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano and Villanueva Mayor Julio Uy has turned ugly as the two politicians traded barbs over the capitol’s health care program.

Uy, who is challenging Emano’s reelection bid, belittled the governor’s Misorcares program, and called it a mere political propaganda.

Emano, for his part, laughed off Uy’s pronouncements, and said, “Nasuya lang na siya (Uy) kay wala may ilang programa sama nianang akong Misorcares kay bisan pag ilang buhaton, dili man gyud sila makahimo ana.”

The word war was started by Uy after he alleged that Misorcares has been draining capitol’s resources, and that the program was used to justify the hiring of workers supposedly because of political accommodation.

Uy however said the capitol’s health program would continue if he succeeds in his gubernatorial campaign but would be fine-tuned to a program similar to Villanueva town’s. He did not elaborate.

Gov. Emano has claimed that over half a million Misamis Oriental residents have been served by the capitol through Misorcares since it was launched.

“Kana nalang 502,000 services  delivered will speak for itself,” Emano said. (nitz arancon)
