The arrest came a day after police caught another drug suspect who allegedly posed as an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in a hotel here.

PDEA regional director Wilkins Villanueva said the suspect, Alnoden Saripada, 33, of Block 37, Lot 15, Vamenta Subdivision was caught with 300 grams of suspected shabu in 30 sachets worth some P600 thousand.

Saripada, who was arrested as a result of a buy-bust operation staged by authorities at around 4:30 pm, would be charged with sale of illegal drugs, according to Villanueva.

Meanwhile, NBI regional director Angelito Magno said the Bureau would press charges against a drug suspect who allegedly misrepresented as an NBI agent.

Magno said the suspect, Omar Naseff Barani Arobento, 30, of Marawi City was arrested by the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Task  Force (CAIDTF) during an entrapment at Rich Manor Hotel,  on Corrales Ave. at around 9 pm on Monday.

He said the suspect was checking in when the police pounced on him, and seized sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Magno said the suspect then introduced himself as an agent of the NBI, and showed them an identification card and a NBI badge.

Insp. Gilbert Rollen, CAIDFT chief, doubted the suspect’s claims, and then confirmed that he was an impostor after checking with the NBI.

“We are investigating this person, and we intend to file charges against him for his attempt to put the NBI in a bad light,” said Magno.

The suspect is detained at the police’s Maharlika headquarters at presstime.
