THE manager of the Laguindingan Airport yesterday assured that the alleged practice of “Laglag Bala” would never happen at the Misamis Oriental airport.

Engr. Jose Budiongan said Laguindingan Airport security personnel were given instructions by the Civil Aviation  Authority of the Philippines (Caap) to stricly observe protocol, and to make sure that only passengers would open their luggages.

“Kung aduna may mamatikdan nga nay sulod sa bag sa usa ka passenger, ang moabli lang gyud dayun mao katong tag-iya sa bag aron kini malikayan ang mga modus operandi,” Budiongan said.

The Laguindingan Airport has 30 security screeners, working in shifts, who have been given instructions not to directly open bags during inspections, he said. The airport, he added, is also being secured by 20 police officers.

Budiongan said the screeners and police officers know that they could end up in hot water if they break the inspection rules. “Kabalo sila kung unsay silot kung buhaton nila kini.”

Budiongan however said there was a man who was caught while attempting to bring ammunition into the airport some two months ago.

The suspect, who claimed the bullets were for his target practice, was charged and bailed out for P120 thousand, he said.
