Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Lyndel Desqui-tado told reporters during its annual Christmas Party and Press Forum for the PNP press corps at Camp Vicente Alagar, Lapasan, this city on Dec. 14.

Desquitado said he personally attended their year end event since it would be his last before he retires from service.

Mao kini ang panahon  sa atong thanksgiving para magpasalamat kita sa Gino-o. At least God, in his mighty name, has (kept) northern Mindanao in his (protective) embrace,” said Desquitado.

However, Desquitado said he could not deny that there are still persisting crimes during his tenure as the region’s top cop.

In his yearend report, Supt. Isaias Bacornay, de-puty chief for regional operation division, show that this year the crime volume is pegged at some 33,756 cases in the region.

Bacornay added that in the region’s yearend crime volume, the crime clearance efficiency is at 10,346 or 30.65% while the crime solution efficiency is at 8,933 or 26.46%.

He said these figure are within the average range of police efficiency and that they were able to solve “celebrated” cases which they have included in their list of accomplishment for this year.

Among the list of “celebrated” cases they have solved, Bacornay is referring to includes the arrest of the leader of Martilyo Gang, Glenn Tayrus of Ozamiz City. Tayrus was the suspect in the armed heist of Fely’s Pawnshop in Limketkai Mall on March 20; the arrest of Abdul Malik Sali, a member of Alkhobar Terrorist Group on March 21.
