VICE Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas yesterday asked the Court of Appeals (CA) to allow him to say his piece on Mayor Oscar Moreno’s petition to block the implementation of the dismissal order of the ombudsman against the local chief executive.

Acenas, accompanied by a battery of lawyers, filed the 26-page motion for leave to intervene at the CA station here. The motion, if granted, would make Acenas a party to the case who may present an argument.

Acenas was accompanied by lawyer Janette Nuñez, incidentally one of the legal counsels of Moreno’s accuser William Guialani. The other lawyers with Acenas were councilors Leon Gan and Ramon Tabor, ex-councilor Alvin Calingin.

“Si Vice Mayor Acenas man ang directly affected sa petition for a writ of preliminary injunction ni Mayor Moreno sa korte, so mao kini nga mipasaka siya sa motion aron madungog usab sa korte ang iyang mga rason ngano nga mi-intervene siya niini nga kaso,” Nuñez explained.

She said they were hoping that the CA would grant Acenas’s motion before the 60-day temporary restraining order issued by the CA in favor of Moreno lapses next week.

Meanwhile, Guialani, Moreno’s accuser, submitted a manifestation to the CA so as to put on record that he already sent his comment, and opposition to the mayor’s petition as early as November.
