In a two-page order, NTC commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba, deputy commissioners Edgardo Cabarios, and Dellah Delas ordered Beat Radio 98.9 Mhz, owned by MIT Radio Television Network Inc. and managed by Eduardo Ociones  Bacasnot, to “cease and desist from operating the subject station immediately.”

The station located at Bacasnot Building, Ragasajo St., Purok 1 Barangay 22-A Poblacion Gingoog City, has been operating without provisional authority, NTC said.

It was learned that the radio station’s closure order came at the heels of a complaint of Misamis Oriental Vice Gov. Jose Marie Pelaez against the station.

“Ila akong gibala-balahan og atake bisan walay kamatuoran ang ilang issue batok kanako, ma-o to nga  nagsumbong ko sa NTC ug nangotana ko kanila,  kon na-a bay permit ang maong radio station,”  Pelaez said.

However, Bacasnot failed to show up in the hearing of Pelaez’s complaint in Feb. 9.

Pelaez said the radio station is still operating in Gingoog City at presstime despite the NTC order. (nitz arancon)
