NINETEEN new members of the Urban Search and Rescue (Usar) and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) groups under the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) demonstrated their knowledge and skills in responding to road accidents during a drill at the rotunda, this city, yesterday.
City hall consultant for disaster risk reduction management Mario Verner Monsanto said the new members recently completed their training on quick traffic accident response. They include 11 new members of the Usar team, and eight others for the EMS.
Monsanto said the trainings would continue.
Yesterday’s drill was aimed at testing how the rescuers would respond in a situation when a van and a motorcyle collide head-on, and four people are injured. Four senior members of the CDRRMO were asked to evaluate the Usar and EMS rescuers’ response.
Monsanto gave the newly trained rescuers a mark of “8” in a scale of 1-10. (nitz arancon)
