BUTUAN City–An armed group of men killed two people and wounded three others as they riddled with bullets the house of a barangay chairperson cum candidate for town councilor in Jagupit, Santiago in Agusan del Norte over the weekend.

The town’s police chief, Senior Insp. Tito Gerado, identified the fatalities as Mario Garrido, 38, and Sherwin Generalao, 29, of Jagupit, Santiago, Agusan del Norte.

A third victim, Romy Garrido Jr., 42, is struggling for life in a hospital here. Others wounded were Rudy Morta, 26, and Rudy Nuevo, 28.

Police said the attack was staged at around 1:30 am on Saturday.

Girado said barangay chairman Gerry Mabras of Jagupit, a candidate for town councilor, was with his supporters, relatives and friends in the house when the attack was carried out. Police and witnesses said Mabras cheated death but is still in a state of shock.

Police said it could not say if the gun attack was electionelated or not.
