Rep. Rolando Uy of the city’s 1st District was sworn into President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s party, the PDP-Laban, in Cebu City on Thursday, a party official confirmed yesterday.

PDP-Laban deputy secretary general Ben Ranque confirmed to the Gold Star Daily that Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez swore Uy into the PDP-Laban at Crimson Hotel in Cebu City.

“Mipirma si (Uy) sa iyang membership ug oath of allegiance before taking his oath,” said Ranque.

Ranque said Uy wanted to support the incoming Duterte administration.

“Balik PDP-Laban (na siya),” said Ranque of the congressman.

Uy was a member of the administration Liberal Party (LP) but decided at the height of the campaign period to support the presidential bid of Sen. Grace Poe because the LP standard bearer, Manuel Roxas II, was allegedly supporting the congressman’s lone challenger, Councilor Lourdes Darimbang.
