NORTHERN Mindanao Police are now searching across the region for three alleged big-time drug lords from Cebu City who, reportedly, went into hiding in one of the region’s five provinces.

Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Lyndel Desquitado told local media on Thursday after confirming intelligence report that drug lords have sought safe haven in one of the provinces of the region.

The intelligence network, Desquitado added, has already spotted them.

Desquitado said the alleged drug lords were first spotted here in the city and they transferred one area in one of the province in the region. He, however, did not name of the province pending police investigations.

“We already sent police intelligence unit to do some confirmation, verification, and probably plan out an immediate arrest,” he said.

Desquitado said he would not allow his remaining days in police service to be tainted with the presence of drug lords hiding within his area of responsibility.

“They are thinking nga safe sila diri nga region but they are not. The hands of the law will go after them,” he said.

He said even before the coming of the new administration, they have been in constant coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) through joint campaigns and validation workshops in tracking down illegal drug distribution in northern Mindanao.

“We try to see to it that the target of the PDEA and the police are the same. We see to it that whenever there will be an operation of the PDEA, they will coordinate with the local police kung asa dapit ang target,” he said.
