SURIGAO City — Surigao del Norte Governor Sol Matugas has promised to give assistance for the education of some 600 graduate students who graduated from the DepEd program’s Alternative Learning System (ALS), here.

Through the Matugas administration’s program called ‘Iskolaran’ which supports and grants assistance to financially disadvantaged students but who want to pursue their studies.

Matugas also encouraged students especially in the ALS program to pursue their studies in college so they could reach their dreams. She cited the importance of education in shaping their future and veer them away from addiction to drugs.

“The president [Duterte] said, education is everything. Education is life. Education is the only gift (which no one could take away from you). Way makailog ng edukasyon, way makakawat ng edukasyon––iju ra gajud jaon, so bisan uno kapobre an ato ginikanan mangeta jud nan paagi para ipaiskuyla sa ijo,” she said.
