BUTUAN City–National Police Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa on Monday alleged that at least three police officials in Caraga were involved in the illegal drugs trade even as he named a suspected drug dealer in this city.

Dela Rosa did not identify the police officials but he named Renie Cabrera as someone who was allegedly involved in illegal drug operations in this city.

Speaking before police officers at the Police Regional Office 13 in Barangay Libertad, dela Rosa warned that scalawags in uniform–those raking in money because of organized crime in Caraga–would be removed from the service, and they “could no longer go back to the PNP.”

He warned drug suspects and their protectors that their “days are numbered.”

In an earlier interview, Cabrera, the suspect he mentioned, said he was no longer into illegal drugs activities, and that he left it many years ago because he was turned into a “milking cow” by people in government who were involved in the anti-illegal drugs campaign.

Cabrera said law enforcers had pestered him with requests for fuel money, among others, prompting him to stop a long time ago.

“These operatives know who the big-time illegal drug pushers are. Yet they’re only arrest small fries. When it comes to the big fish, they are all blind, deaf and mute,” Cabrera said.
