THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a barangay councilor in an anti-illegal drugs operation at Villa Candida Subdivision in Barangay Bulua here on fiesta day.

PDEA agent Ben Kalibre identified the suspect as Fatima Dumpi, 33, a councilor of Barangay 31. She was arrested inside her residence at Block 6, Lot 9, Villa Candida after authorities search her house based on a warrant issued by Judge Henry Damasing.

Kalibre said Dumpi was in the PDEA’s list of suspected drug suppliers, and PDEA was able to validate the information that she has allegedly been disposing an average of 10 grams a day in Barangay 31.

Also arrested were Rey Saculingan who allegedly yielded suspected shabu in sachets.

Authorities seized nine sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 20 grams, and a Nissan Navarra pick-up truck that alleged yielded suspected shabu.

Kalibre said Dumpi has a sibling and sister-in-law who were arrested for violation to RA 9165 last year.

Barangay 31 chair Delia Wabe said Dumpi’s arrest caught her and other village officials by surprise, saying they had no idea she was allegedly into illegal drugs.

“We will bring this matter to the council. Mag-discuss pami ani,” Wabe said of the councilor who chairs the barangay’s committee on women and family relations.

Wabe said, “Ga-uban man kana siya og active sa among kalihukan sa women.” (lito rulona)
