Authorities said 65-year old Mario Ceriaco Quambot was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

SFO2 Edmund Joel Ejoc said Quambot inhaled too much smoke.

“Nakagawas ang victim pero pag-abot sa gawas luya na kaayo mao nga gidala sa paramedics sa hospital pero wala makaabot,” Ejoc said.

The other houses that were destroyed were owned by Gregorio Reyes and Gilbert Lumoljo. Investigators placed the structural damages at P150 thousand.

Initial investigation showed that the fire started in one of the rooms in Quambot’s house, presumably due to faulty electrical wirings.

Quambot’s daughter Yvonne told investigators the fire started after a wire in one of the rooms sparked.

“Ang mga bata ra ang nakabantay kay nagdala pa man sila og computer. Nagsila sila daw ang dapit sa suga,” she said.

She said her children quickly ran outside the house but “dugay kaayo nagawas ang akong papa.”
