Authorities said the suspect, Ruel Bahan, was drunk when the grenade was “accidentally” hurled towards people attending a wake.

Police said Bahan and his brother grappled with each other before the explosion.

The Tubay police said the explosion hurt 25-year old Junrey Batas and five minors, mostly 13 years old.

PO2 Jomar Ascares said Bahan has had a drink too many and accused his neighbor Brian Bagaipo of taking his money.

Ascares said the suspect went home and returned with a caliber .45 pistol and a grenade.

Seeing this, Ascares said, Bahan’s brother Richard tried to stop the suspect and grappled with him as he threatened to throw the grenade.

Ascares said the grenade was “accidentally” thrown and went off as the siblings wrestled.

Police arrested the suspect, and charges were being prepared against him at presstime.
