POLICE arrested a 30-year old carpenter after he allegedly attacked a helper with a pipe for blowing the whistle on him while about to rob a family in Corona Drive, Tibasak in Macasandig, this city, on Tuesday morning.

Chief Insp. Basman Aranton Macarangal identified the suspect as Jumar Altubar of Upper Macasandig.

Altubar was charged with frustrated murder and robbery before the City Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday.

The helper, a 17-year old from Aposkahoy, Claveria, Misamis Oriental, said she screamed and cried out for help when she saw Altubar in the house of his employer Alec Ben Santos.

She said she woke up early and was about to water the garden when he saw  the suspect hiding near a dog house.

“Habog, og kinoral man among balay unya kalit lang migawasdala ang tubo og nagsulti pa kini diri kanako nga dili magsaba,” the helper said.

Sensing danger, she said she ran towards the house and screamed but the suspect chased and struck her head with a pipe.

“Pagkatumba nako, iya pa akong gitiwasan sa makatulo ka higayon diri sa akong ulo ginamit gihapon ang tubo,” she said.

Santos pressed robbery charges against the suspect whom he saw jumping over from his fence. He then rushed his helped to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).

He said the suspect worked in a construction project adjacent to his house.
