Masses at the St. Michael Cathedral, the Corpus Christi parish at Tubod, San Lorenzo Ruiz at barangay Hinaplanon and other churches were heard, even as candles were lit  and flowers  offered at the sites were the floods  struck most by kins of the victims who perished, at Mandulog River and at Bayug island.

To recall, in the early morning of Dec. 17, 2011 at around 1:00 am an avalanche of waters and debris from the uplands came rushing through practically all areas of the city. Logs of all sizes were brought along with the waters. The bridge over the Mandulog River gave way. People climbed upper floors, roofs, coconut  and other trees if only to escape from the fury of the waters.

Dead bodies filled the streets and elsewhere, a few hours and even days after as everybody was not prepared for it.

Donations flowed to the city but until now, there are still victims who have yet to receive their aid, specially those promised houses, although many too have been resettled.

Regina Antiquisa, of the Eco Web, a non-government orgnanization, said that they are coordinating efforts marking said anniversary.
