POLICE director for northern Mindanao Agripino Javier has echoed a warning that officers caught indiscriminately firing their guns during the New Year revelries would have to face the consequences of their actions.

Chief Supt. Javier said this as he inspected the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo). He instructed the local police to make sure that the city is secure during the celebrations.

“Those who will violate would face immediate dismissal from police service,” Javier said.

He said the same warning applies to other gun owners, saying they, too, would face the full force of the law if they fired their weapons in greeting the new year.

“There is no exemption, cop or not a cop. They would face charges if they violate,” Javier said.

On Tuesday, National Police Director General Ronald dela Rosa said violators would not be pardoned especially if they are police officers.

Meanwhile, Javier called on concerned citizens especially barangay officials to report violations to the nearest police station.
