ILIGAN City — The Mayor of Pantar, Lanao del Norte died in an ambush at the National Highway in Purok 5, Paitan, Dalipuga here last night.
Police Insp. Alan S. Payla, Deputy Commander of Police Station 3 reported that responding policemen found at about 9:45 pm on Dec. 29, a Ford Everest bearing a “For Registration Plate” was ambushed by unidentified perpetrators.
The report identified the victim as Mohammed Exchan Limbona, 52, married and incumbent mayor of Pantar, Lanao del Norte.
In the vehicle with Limbona were PO1 Russel Jay Paitingca, 27, married, PO1 Saidamen Hadji Naim, 28, married both PNP personnel assigned at Pantar Police Station, both of whom were hit at the left leg and the right leg respectively.
Limbona’s body was brought by his wife to their residence in Marawi City. (Frank E. Dosdos, Jr. and Sita Asequia)
