Despite being busy in responding to calls for relief assistance and cleaning the main road of the city, members of the Regional Police Safety Battalion (RPSB 10) were able to arrest three suspected hold-uppers and illegal drugs confiscated on Tuesday morning along JR Borja and Velez streets.

The arrested suspects were identified only by their first names after finding out they were minors. They were identified as Theophilo, 14, a resident of Barangay Macasandig; Timoteo, 16, a resident of Sitio Cala-anan, Barangay Canitoan and Filomeno, 16, a resident from Barangay Camaman-an.

Investigation revealed that at around 10 am on Tuesday, the suspects allegedly approached a parking boy who was only known as Zuzimo (also a minor), pointed him with a sharp object and threatened that they would stab him if he would not give to them his money and his sandals.

Fortunately, the victim was able to run towards Jimar Hardware located across the street and sought help from the employees but he was chased by the suspects.

PO3 Celso L Equipelag’s said a police visibility team composed of PO1 Darwin Apiado, PO1 Junjun Didato, and PO1 Julieh Yacapin were patrolling along Velez Street when they noticed the commotion along Gomez Street. They responded to the incident which resulted in the arrest of the suspects.

Confiscated from their possession were one heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing dried leaves of suspected marijuana, two used sticks of suspected marijuana cigarettes, one piece lighter and fifty-three-peso coins.

After they were properly apprised of their constitutional rights, the suspects were brought to Police Station Number 1 for proper disposition.

Equipelag and his team are members of RPSB 10, augmented at Cagayan de Oro Police Office since December to intensify police presence in the city.
