SEN. Alan Peter Cayetano yesterday denied allegations of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV that he is behind an supposed plot to oust Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III so he could replace him.

“It’s a figment of the imagination of Sen. Trillanes. I don’t have any plans to get the leadership,” Cayetano told a news conference.

Cayetano pointed out that Pimentel is trusted by senators and President Duterte.

“If Sen. Koko doing a good job? Yes. If perfect? No,” said Cayetano, adding that it was too early to judge the senator from Cagayan de Oro.

Cayetano criticized Trillanes, saying that the public should “expect weekly intrigues” from the senator.

He also slammed Trillanes for saying that he was hungry for power, and challenged him to resign if he himself was not.

“(Trillanes) is making it look like I’m hungry for power. I can prove I’m not hungry for power by leaving the Senate now. Can he do the same?” asked Cayetano rhetorically. (pna)
