MISAMIS Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano yesterday denied that he has given refuge to National Democratic Front consultant Alfredo Mapano following President Duterte’s order for the arrest of political detainees so they could take part in the peace process.
Mapano was released from the provincial jail on Aug. 17, 2016 on court orders.
Emano said this even as he alleged that he was asked by military official to hand over Mapano a.k.a. Ka Paris who, before the peace negotiations, was detained at the Misamis Oriental provincial jail.
Emano identified the military official who called him up as one Col. Carandang from the 58th Infantry Battalion.
He said he has no information about the whereabouts of Mapano.
“Nakaila ako niya (Mapano) kay usa man siya ka inmate sa provincial jail pero dili gyud nga amigo kaayo kami,” Emano said.
